Long Service Award for Prof. Sautman

On 31 January, 2013, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held its fourth Long Service Award Presentation Ceremony honoring faculty and staff members who have served the University for 20 years.

HKUST established the Long Service Award to express appreciation and recognition to long-serving faculty and staff members whose hard work and dedication have contributed to the University's rapid rise in the past two decades. This year, HKUST is presenting the Award to 274 members who joined the University in 1993.

Professor Sautman was among the awardees at the fourth Long Service Award Presentation Ceremony on 31 Jan 2013. Prof. Sautman joins other long service award winners (who have previously been honored) from the Division of Social Science, including Professor Gerald Patchell, Ms. Wendy Tsang Yuk Fan, Professor Tu Jow Ching, and Ms Vicky Lai Fung Ching.

HKUST President Prof Tony F Chan, together with the vice-presidents, deans, heads and directors were present in the presentation ceremony. The awardees' families and friends were also invited by the University. Over 600 persons joined in the celebration.

Officiating at the Long Service Award Presentation Ceremony, Prof Chan said, "On this special occasion, I would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to our long-serving members from every unit who have contributed to the University as it goes from strength to strength. HKUST's success is in no small part due to them. Our dedicated members have separately and collectively played a key role in laying the strong foundation of high standards, pioneering spirit, and drive that have helped HKUST achieve its rise to world-class research university. All can be proud - as we are proud of them - of being part of HKUST's founding era."
