Wen WANG is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Social Science at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She received her Ph.D. in Economics from Duke University, and her research interests include environmental economics, urban economics, and public economics.
Prof WANG's research tries to develop and apply economic methods to analyse and evaluate environmental policies. The majority of her work focuses on understanding the distributional impacts and welfare impacts of environmental policies, especially across residents of different tenure status (renters vs. owners) and races. She is particularly interested in property market responses and re-optimization of residential housing decisions corresponding to policies and shocks, and measures welfare changes taking account of residential sorting and housing market re-equilibration.
